To collect feedback on the design alternatives, Assedo led public outreach and engagement efforts through survey distribution and an in-person pop-up event. Our staff translator created Spanish-language versions of all printed and digital materials in addition to the English version. Using GIS to understand the community demographics and establish a project impact area, Assedo mailed materials to nearly 1300 residents near the project area, emailed notices to 50 community contacts, interacted with 84 neighbors at the pop-up event, and collected 560 survey responses from March 12 to April 30, 2024. The pop-up event was held at the local shopping center - Plaza del Mercado - to raise awareness of major safety concerns and due to the high concentration of drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users. Assedo closed out the engagement with a thank-you email to 215 survey respondents that included next steps for future project involvement.
