MELANIE FLORES

Position: Planner II / Outreach Specialist

Responsibilities: I am responsible for creating tools and materials to support the written, oral, and visual communication of numerous projects and assist with public engagement strategies for a variety of project work. The projects I work on are within the following industries: electric and gas utilities, roadway construction, transportation, and stormwater management. Working in a multi-displinary profession allows me to better communicate complex industry-specific language to the public by using innovative practices and approaches to outreach.

Why Assedo? I chose to work at Assedo Consulting because I enjoy collaborating and engaging with community members as well as providing user-friendly and visually compelling concepts and maps to help illustrate complex project work. Assedo Consulting helps communities understand and learn about the project work occuring in their neighborhood and creates space for collaboration and feedback during every step of the planning process.

Background: I received a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning with a focus in transportation from Florida State University. While attending Florida State University, I was awarded a Transit Fellowship and interned for StarMetro, Tallahasse’s Metro Agency. I have experience working in the public and private sectors in transportation and am now gaining experience working in outreach and community engagement with Assedo Consulting.
