Position: Planner II and GIS Specialist

Responsibilities: In my professional work, I am responsible for technical assistance on projects of varying scale. These tasks include creating meeting presentations, mailers, and other outreach materials that communicate technical processes and updates to the public. I also utilize my skills in data analytics to present data in a meaningful way. This includes creating maps for outreach, public engagement, legal data requests, and client communications. Additionally, with my background in historic preservation I provide support in preservation related programs and project elements.

Why Assedo? When I first opened Assedo’s website I was immediately drawn to the mission statement. Most of my educational background has focused on creating equity through planning and historic preservation to empower communities that have been historically underrepresented and overlooked. Assedo is committed to working in a way that aligns with my core beliefs in my personal and professional life.

Background: I recently graduated from the University of Colorado – Denver with a Master of Science in Historic Preservation. I also hold a Planning Board Accredited Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University. I am particularly interested in utilizing my education in preservation and planning to tell the stories of communities that have historically been overlooked in traditional historic preservation efforts. My interest in this led me to work as an intern with the City of Denver where I conducted research on identified buildings with potential connections to underrepresented communities throughout Denver and drafted historical backgrounds and statements of significance for National Register of Historic Places potential. In another role I contributed to the city’s historic context on American Indian and Indigenous people through work focused on youth engagement.
